Sending girls to college is a waste of time and could be a sin, says Catholic writer

Catholic parents should not send their daughters to college. That's the view of Raylan Alleman, co-founder of the US-based conservative Catholic website, Fix The Family.

On his website Alleman lists eight reasons for keeping women out of America's universities (even Catholic ones).

According to Alleman, the first reason is that whilst in college girls will, he writes, "attract the wrong types of men."

Who exactly are the wrong types? Indolent ones who don't understand it's their duty, as ordained by God and nature, to be the family breadwinner.

There are so many lazy men in our society Alleman writes, "but what mystifies me is why girls continue to marry them and then live to complain about them, along with their parents... The bottom line, HE is only supplementing HER income, but he’s supposed to be the provider."

There you are girls. Feminism was a complete non-starter. Equality was for the birds. Just join Raylan Alleman in his shiny silver DeLorean to ferry you back to 1955.

About Those Six or So Reasons Not To Send Your Daughter to College

If you checked into social media yesterday, you probably came across this article by Raylan Alleman of the idealistically-named apostolate Fix the Family, in which Alleman gives eight reasons why you do wrong to send your daughter to college.  Last I checked, the article had 69k “Likes” on Facebook, most of which I’m dearly, dearly hoping are ironic.

As you may guess, Alleman relies on false assumptions, fallacious reasoning, overgeneralizations, and bad science to buttress his case. He asserts that “girls” go to college to get a degree, not an education, that a woman’s proper place is in the home as a wife and a homeschooling mother, that the grind of work is below her dignity, that “not having a degree frees her to enter into a marriage with proper roles in which her husband will provide for her and their children,” and that affordable insurance can provide for her in the event of her husband’s demise. His concerns: your daughter at college will attract a la

Catholic Fringe Group Founder Raylan Alleman: Don’t Send Your Daughters To College

At a time when even the pope is making attempts to lead the church in a more progressive direction, one Catholic organization from (where else?) the American South apparently hasn’t gotten the memo.

Fix the Family, a group run by Citadel Catholic Media in Thibodaux, La., believes, among other things, that parents should not send their daughters to college. Earlier this month, the group’s founder, Raylan Alleman, posted a listicle offering eight reasons not to do so, including sin, temptation, the risk of meeting the “wrong kinds of men” and an education that “doesn’t teach her how to be a wife and mother.”

From the blog:

“Nothing that is taught in a college curriculum is geared toward domestic homemaking. On the contrary, it is training in a very masculine role of a professional career. So there becomes a severe inner conflict in a woman when she starts trying to be a homemaker and juggle a career alongside it.”

As evidenced from the above
