SHELLY RODGERS is a professor of strategic communication and and the Maxine Wilson Gregory Chair in Journalism Research in the Missouri School of Journalism. Rodgers is recognized for exceptional research productivity and impact in top advertising and health communication journals and is ranked as one of the most prolific scholars during the past 20 years based on her publication activity.

She is an award-winning educator, honored with the American Academy of Advertising’s Charles H. Sandage “Sandy” Excellence in Teaching award in 2020 and the University of Missouri’s William T. Kemper Fellowship for Teaching Excellence in 2018. She received the 2020 President’s Award for Sustained Career Excellence in Humanities/Social Behavioral Sciences, the 2019 SEC Faculty Achievement Award, and was featured for her outstanding record of research and scholarship in Time Magazine and Chronicle of Higher Education.

Shelley Berkley

Shelley Berkley represented Nevada in the United States House of Representatives from 1999-2012.

Berkley was born January 20, 1951, in New York City, and moved to Nevada at age 11. She completed her Bachelor of Arts in political science at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas in 1972 and received her law degree from the University of San Diego School of Law in 1976.

From 1982-1985, Berkley served in the Nevada Assembly. In 1990, she was appointed to the Board of Regents of the university and community college system of Nevada, serving until 1998. In 2012, she campaigned unsuccessfully for the U.S. Senate.

2006 American film

Idlewild is a 2006 American musicaldrama film written and directed by Bryan Barber. The film stars André 3000 and Big Boi of the hip hop duo Outkast, and the film features musical numbers that were written, produced and chiefly performed by the group. Idlewild contrasts the group's hip-hop, funk, and soul sound against a story based on a juke joint in the fictional town of Idlewild, during the Great Depression in Georgia in 1935.

Distributed by Universal Pictures, the film is an HBO Films co-production alongside Mosaic Media Group and Forensic Films. It features an ensemble cast including Terrence Howard, Paula Jai Parker, Paula Patton (who is no relation to Big Boi whose real name is Antwan Patton), Cicely Tyson, Ben Vereen, Patti LaBelle, Ving Rhames, Macy Gray, Faizon Love, Bruce Bruce, Malinda Williams, Jackie Long and Bill Nunn.
