ABOUT: I’M A GRAPHIC ARTIST, ILLUSTRATOR & PRINT MAKER WHO LOOKS TO PRODUCE NICE LOOKING ARTWORK.
How do you work?
I scribble shapes onto paper with a superlight pencil, get everything lined up & then inked up. From there I may work on the piece in Photoshop or illustrator – dependant on the project.
What’s your background?
I went to CCAD to cover all things art & find my creative feet, then moved onto Northumbria Uni to study Fine Art. There I specialised in the print department focusing on lino, woodcut & screen prints. I’ve been working freelance since graduating in 2009, in the same year I started my own brand THE BEARHUG (COMPANY) LTD.
Having my work up in the studio led to a third year student saying my work reminded her of Luke Dixon, so I immediately researched him to have a look at his work. I see why she said, as there are many similarities, the subject matter, the black and white palette and the use

Luke’s practice as a performance maker and environmental activist encompasses the growing of wildlife gardens, the making of community theatre, and the creation of live art. For half a century Luke has been an innovative performance maker. His ground-breaking, gender-bending, site-specific, experimental and community work has been seen in China, North America, South Africa, Germany, France, Poland, Russia, Czech and Slovak Republics, Spain, and throughout the UK. Luke has devised and led participatory theatre workshops in refugee camps in Sudan, post-conflict Kosovo, townships in the Eastern Cape, and at The Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe. He has taught at universities in the UK, Canada, Brazil, and South Africa. Luke’s work as an environmental activist has encompassed installing beehives across the rooftops of London, creating community wildlife gardens around England, running educational and awareness building workshops, and establishing the charity The Bee Friendly Trust.
