Isaac Mizrahi has worked extensively in the entertainment industry as an actor, host, writer, designer and producer for over 30 years. He is the subject and co-creator of Unzipped, a documentary following the making of his Fall 1994 collection which received an award at the Sundance Film Festival. He hosted his own television talk show The Isaac Mizrahi Show for seven years, has written two books, and has made countless appearances in movies and on television. He currently serves as a judge on Project Runway: All-Stars.

He is Chief Designer for the Isaac Mizrahi brands, a division of Xcel Brands, Inc. In 2009, Mizrahi launched his lifestyle collection, “ISAACMIZRAHILIVE!” on QVC. His IMNYC collection is currently sold at Lord & Taylor and Hudson’s Bay Company.

Isaac Mizrahi holds the distinction of being one of today's best-known American fashion designers. His fame comes from far more than his runway creations, however: Mizrahi is a bona fide celebrity who has applied his abundant energy to a number of diverse projects. In 1995, early in his career as a designer, he was the subject of a widely praised film documentary titled Unzipped. During 1997 he published a collection of three comic books under the title Isaac Mizrahi Presents the Adventures of Sandee the Supermodel. Two years after the 1998 closing of his high-priced clothing design business, Mizrahi explored his love of theater by crafting and starring in a one-man Off-Broadway cabaret show called Les Mizrahi. The celebrated fashion designer Isaac Mizrahi has written an astoundingly wondrous and moving memoir. I.M.: A Memoir, reveals Mizrahi to be, above all else, ultimately a nice Jewish boy; a description that will probably rankle him. But I say this with the purest of intentions. He seems thoughtful and kind and tender – and resists clinging to lingering resentments and hurts. There is a sweetness about him. He is simultaneously nostalgic and perceptive and revealing and self-aware, as well as a surprisingly eloquent storyteller.

Mizrahi, born in 1961, endured a torturous yeshiva upbringing in a Syrian enclave of Brooklyn, where he struggled to fit in while finding himself a fish out of water. His teachers were exasperated by him. His parents were ashamed of his flamboyant theatricality and his refusal to toe the line in a world that simply had no place for him.
