Stanley William Zabka was one of 11 siblings. He served in both WWII and the Korean War. He was a pianist and composer, whose co-written composition "Chimes" (with Al D'Artega) was used as the theme song of The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson (1962) and a marching band version of the same was the NBC Sports theme for several years. He also co-wrote "Christmas Eve in My Home Town" (with Donald Upton), which was recorded by Kate Smith, Jim Nabors, Bobby Vinton, Eddie Fisher and many others. He was an assistant director and director, known for his work on Romancing the Stone (1984), Midnight Run (1988) and Bronco Billy (1980). He was married to Nancy Heimert (whom he met while they were both working at The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson.

Zabka was born on November 6, 1924 in Des Moines, Iowa, United States; the son of Frank and Marie Geraldine (Buresh) Zabka.

Education

Stanley Zabka attended Illinois University and Northwestern University. He received a Bachelor's degree from De Pauw University in 1949.

Career

Zabka began his career as a news chief at American Forces Network in Frankfurt in 1951 and held the position for two years. In 1954, he worked as an associate director and director at NBC-television and held the position for ten years. Since 1975 Stanley has been a producer and director of motion pictures, music and television production at NBC-television.

He earned recognition as a composer of memorable theme music for various Pulitzer, Christopher, and Emmy-award winning television specials. Zabka is the co-composer with Al D'Artega of "Chim
