Eugen Carpov gets a new mandate as head of ANRE

Eugen Carpov will continue to lead the National Energy Regulatory Agency (ANRE) after his candidacy for a new term as director of the Board of Directors was proposed to Parliament's plenary session.

The decision to appoint Eugen Carpov was made following a public competition organized by the Economy, Budget, and Finance Committee, which accepted 14 candidates. Carpov had the highest score in the interview test.

A law graduate, Carpov has served as the director of the National Energy Regulatory Agency (ANRE) since 2019 and has significant experience in the energy sector. The results of the competition will be submitted to the Parliament Speaker and the Legal, Appointments, and Immunities Committee.

The board of directors of ANRE consists of five directors, who are appointed by Parliament through a competitive process under current legislation.

On February 19, 2020, the Director of the National Agency for Energy Regulation (ANRE), Mr. Eugen Carpov, attended the 5th Meeting of the Association Committee of the Republic of Moldova - European Union, co-chaired by the Secretary of State of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, Mrs. Tatiana Molcean and Mr. Luc Devigne, Director for Russia, Eastern Partnership, Central Asia and OSCE, the European External Action Service.

 

During the event, the Mr. Carpov delivered a short presentation of ANRE’s activity on the following topics:

- the importance of enhancing the independence and the level of professionalism of the energy regulator;
- the process of separation and certification (unbundling) of the Transmission System Operators of natural gas and electricity;
- enhancing the transparency in the processes of procurement and investment in the energy sector;
- the tariff setting mechanisms that would allow the Ungheni - Chi
