Patrick Martin Vaughn Stump, born on April 27, 1984, in Glenview, Illinois, is a Chicago musician, composer, and producer. Most notably, he is the composer, lead singer, and multi-instrumentalist for Fall Out Boy, an American alternative rock band from Wilmette, Illinois.
Stump comes from a musically inclined family. His father, Dave Stump, is a folk singer, and his older brother, Kevin, is an accomplished violinist. Stump participated in the Music Center of Deerfield's program before secondary education and played drums for a number of bands during middle school and high school, including Public Display of Infection, Xgrinding processX, and Patterson. He also performed in "Paradox," a student-created theatrical performance at Glenbrook South, from 2000-2002. He wrote for Channel Zero, a student-produced publication focusing on social issues. He was active in WGBK 88.5 FM the District 225 radio station. Stump removed the "H" at the end of his name because of pronunciation errors. Patrick Stump is one of the most influential musicians of the early 2000s. He was raised in Glenview, Illinois, and lived with his father, a folk singer, and his mother, an accountant. His parents separated when he was eight years old. Early in his profession, Stump played for numerous rock bands as a drummer, and in 2001 he met Joe Trohman, Fall Out Boy’s founding guitarist. In 2003, the band released their first studio album titled “Take This to Your Grave.”
Stump had his first mainstream breakthrough in 2005, with the album titled “From Under the Cork Tree,” which was certified double-platinum and sold over 2.5 million copies. Patrick Martin Stumph (born April 27, 1984), known professionally as Patrick Vaughn Stump,[9][10] is an American singer, songwriter, musician, and record producer. He is the lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist of the rock band Fall Out Boy, originally from Wilmette, Illinois.[7]
His solo work has been described as "funky and R&B infused",[11] while Billboard noted him as "one of the best voices in pop-punk".[1] Fall Out Boy has achieved four top ten singles on the US Billboard Hot 100 and four number one albums on the Billboard 200, firstly with Infinity on High (2007), followed by and including Save Rock and Roll (2013), American Beauty/American Psycho (2015), and Mania (2018).[12] With Pete Wentz, Stump founded the record label DCD2 Records in 2005, through which he has signed and worked in production for musical acts including Cobra Starship, Gym Class Heroes, and Panic! at the Disco.[13]
