Matthew Sheridan Cardle (born 15 April 1983)^[1] is an English pop singer and actor. He was born in Southampton and grew up in Halstead, Essex.^[1] Cardle has been involved in music since his early teens and has been a member of two different bands; Darwyn and Seven Summers. Cardle rose to fame after winning the seventh series of The X Factor in 2010, and received a £1 million recording contract with Syco Music and later signed a deal with Columbia Records.

Following Cardle's victory on The X Factor, the winner's single and his debut single, "When We Collide", was released.^[2] The track was made available to purchase on 12 December 2010, shortly after the show had ended.^[3] On 19 December 2010, the track debuted at number one on the UK singles chart, as well as on the Irish Singles Chart.^[4] The track also became the second biggest-selling single of 2010 with 815,000 copies sold within two weeks.^[5] In June 2012, it had sold one million copies, the fourth single by an

Matthew Sheridan Cardle (born 15 April 1983) is an English singer-songwriter and guitarist who rose to fame after winning the seventh series of The X Factor in 2010. He received a £1 million recording contract with Syco Music by winning and his debut single When We Collide was released immediately after he won. It sold 439,000 copies in its first week to become the UK Christmas number one.

Before applying to The X Factor, he was the frontman, lead vocalist and acoustic guitar player of the band Seven Summers and also Darwyn. Seven Summers released a self-titled debut rock album Seven Summers on 22 January 2010. The band performed live on Sue Merchant's BBC radio program on 8 December 2009. Darwyn released two albums entitled When You Wake, and Little Sunlight between 2005 and 2009 as well as playing Sue Marchants BBC radio programme. He also still plays the occasional acoustic gig with former Darwyn band mate Ali McMillan.

Matt has been in some bands before the X Factor, including Seven Summers and Darwyn, though accomplished his first number 1 with 'When We Collide', but not just any number 1 the Christmas No.1 of 2010! He now plans to write and co-write songs on his upcoming album, and has even mentioned the idea of a song with his 'BFF' Aiden, who he formed a bromance with during the X Factor shows.
