In 2002, James A. Rasulo became one of the faces of the Walt Disney Company, presiding over the entertainment giant's vast Parks and Resorts wing. It was a job that often thrust him into the public eye -- whether it was at a groundbreaking for a new Disney resort, the opening of a park attraction or at a Disney fan convention, Rasulo was arguably as recognizable to Disney followers as many of the company's animated characters.

Last month, Rasulo took on a new challenge in the Disney hierarchy, assuming the less visible, but no less important position of Chief Financial Officer, overseeing the multi-billion-dollar company's worldwide financial organization.

But to those folks who lived in Oakwood in the late 1960s and early 1970s, you knew Rasulo as just Jay, a hard-working, dependable lad who tossed copies of the Staten Island Advance from a tote bag on his trusty bicycle to the doorsteps

James A. "Jay" Rasulo is an American executive who was the Senior Executive VP and CFO of The Walt Disney Company.[1]

Early life and education

A native of New York, Rasulo has a degree in economics from Columbia University and an MA in economics and an MBA from the University of Chicago.

History

In his early career, Rasulo worked for Chase Manhattan Bank and the Marriott Corporation.

Rasulo joined The Walt Disney Company in 1986 as a director within Corporate Strategic Planning and later rose to senior vice president, where he led development for Disney's real estate-based businesses. After two years as a senior vice president of Corporate Alliances and three years with Disney Regional Entertainment, Rasulo became executive vice president of Euro Disney S.C.A., which operates Disneyland Resort Paris. He served as president and chief operating officer before taking over as chairman and CEO of the French resort in 2000.
