Céline Marie Claudette DionCC OQ (say-LEEN dee-ON,[a]French:[selinmaʁiklodɛtdjɔ̃]ⓘ;[b] born 30 March 1968)[3] is a Canadian singer. Referred to as the "Queen of Power Ballads",[4][5] Dion's powerful, technically skilled vocals and commercially successful works have had a significant impact on popular music.[6][7]
Born into a large family in Charlemagne, Quebec, Dion was discovered by her future manager and husband, René Angélil, and emerged as a teen star in her home country with a series of French-language albums during the 1980s. She gained international recognition by winning the 1988 Eurovision Song Contest, where she represented Switzerland with the song "Ne partez pas sans moi". Dion went on to release twelve English-language albums, including The Colour of My Love (1993), Falling into You (1996), Let's Talk About Love (1997), and All the Way... Céline Dion News: Video Shows Pop Star Singing at Grammys
Turns out there was more to Céline Dion’s surprise appearance at the 2024 Grammy Awards than what TV cameras captured. Dion, who currently isn’t performing due to her neurological disorder stiff person syndrome, showed off her vocals backstage in a viral Instagram video from the ceremony on February 4. In the clip, the 55-year-old is seen sharing riffs and runs with singer and songwriter Sonyae Elise.
According to People, Elise wasn’t the only one thrilled to see Dion. Oprah Winfrey, Stevie Wonder, and Best New Artist winner Victoria Monét all spent some time with the “My Heart Will Go On” singer.
Before her backstage jam session, Dion was revealed as a mystery presenter for the final award of the night, Album of the Year, and took the stage to a standing ovation before presenting the trophy to Taylor Swift. The two also shared an embrace backstage.

Dion Francis DiMucci (born July 18, 1939),[15] better known mononymously as Dion, is an American singer and songwriter. His music incorporates elements of doo-wop, pop, rock, R&B, folk and blues.[16] Initially the lead singer of the vocal group Dion and the Belmonts, Dion embarked on a solo career, and was one of the most prominent rock and roll performers of the pre-British Invasion era.[2] He had 39 Top 40 hits in the late 1950s and early 1960s as a solo performer, or with the Belmonts and the Del-Satins.[17] He is best remembered for his signature hit songs "Runaround Sue", "The Wanderer", "Ruby Baby" and "Lovers Who Wander", among others.[18]
Dion continued making music after his popularity waned in the mid-1960s,[19][20] and toward the end of the decade he shifted his style with more mature and contemplative songs, such as "Abraham, Martin and John".[21]
