Sharon E. Cooper (b. 1975)

Sharon Cooper studied English, Theatre, and Secondary Education at Longwood University (BA), and attended the Gallatin School of Individualized Study at New York University (MA), where she studied playwriting, screenwriting, and arts and public policy. She also attended the Kennedy Center's Playwriting Intensive program. Cooper has taught English and Creative Writing in public and private schools and is a tutor, writing coach and Teaching Artist. Cooper is a Resident Playwright at The CRY HAVOC Company. Her five full-length plays and dozens of short plays have won numerous awards and have been produced in America, India, England, Hungary, and Germany.

Sharon Cooper

Sharon Cooper's five full-length plays and dozens of short plays have been produced in Germany, India, Hungary, England, Singapore, and across the U.S. Her plays are published in The Best 10-Minute Plays of 2010, 2014 and 2016; Laugh Lines: Short Comic Plays; and several college textbooks including The Bedford Introduction to Literature and Literature to Go. Sharon has won several awards for her writing, including “Outstanding Short Play” in the Planet Connections Festival and she was a finalist in the Short and Sweet Festival in Sydney, Australia, for her play Painting 17. She was produced three times at The Keller Theatre in Giessen, Germany, including a commission of A Visit to the Bronx. Sharon studied at the Kennedy Center’s Playwriting Intensive Summer Program and New York University, where she focused on filmmaking and screenwriting and arts/public policy. She is a writer on the new web series BKPI (Creator/Director: Hye Yun Park, produced by Super Deluxe).
